Electrical Project Executive – Utility & Substation Projects (Hartford, Connecticut) Position Overview:
Our client, an established and growing electrical contractor, is seeking an Electrical Project Executive to launch and lead a regional utility and substation practice. This role is responsible for delivering a large, high-profile substation program while building a scalable regional operation. The ideal candidate combines hands-on construction leadership with the ability to build teams, manage union relationships, and grow long-term client partnerships.
Electrical Project Executive Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of a major substation program, coordinating plant and building scopes, and managing GC and trade interfaces
- Establish and operate a regional office, including yard setup, staffing, and operational processes
- Serve as the senior operational leader for the region, overseeing project executives, project managers, and field leadership
- Develop and execute labor strategies, proactively managing union coordination and jurisdictional considerations
- Own key client and union relationships and represent the organization in the regional market
- Drive cost control, schedule performance, and disciplined operational execution
- Mentor leaders and build a culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Electrical Project Executive Qualifications
- 10+ years of construction leadership experience in electrical, utility, or substation work
- Proven success delivering complex, multi-disciplinary programs with plant and building interfaces
- Strong experience working with union labor and local jurisdictional requirements
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead a regional office or large program
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with clients, GCs, unions, and field teams
- Background as a Project Executive, VP of Operations, or senior leader with program or P&L responsibility
- Hands-on electrical or inside electrician background is a plus
