Vice President of Operations (Atlanta, Georgia) Overview:
Goliath Construction Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading electrical contractor for a Vice President of Operations to lead and expand its Metro Atlanta business with a primary focus on mission-critical and data center construction. This executive leadership role offers full P&L responsibility while driving regional growth, operational excellence, and strategic client relationships across one of the fastest-growing data center markets in the country.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished electrical construction executive with a proven track record of leading profitable operations, developing high-performing teams, and successfully delivering large-scale mission-critical projects.
Vice President of Operations Responsibilities
- Lead the Metro Atlanta operation with full responsibility for profit and loss, including revenue growth, margin performance, cash flow, and overall financial results.
- Develop and execute the regional growth strategy focused on mission critical and data center construction opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, and key industry partners to drive new business.
- Provide executive oversight of estimating, preconstruction, project execution, and operational performance across multiple projects.
- Oversee project financial performance, including WIP reporting, forecasting, budgeting, retainage, change orders, and overall financial accountability.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and operational leadership while fostering a high-performance culture.
- Lead contract negotiations and risk management efforts to protect company interests and ensure successful project delivery.
- Promote a culture centered on safety, quality, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Vice President of Operations Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within electrical contracting or commercial construction.
- Extensive experience leading mission-critical, data center, or other highly technical electrical construction projects.
- Demonstrated success managing full profit and loss responsibility while driving sustainable business growth.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including medium- and low-voltage distribution, backup power, and critical infrastructure.
- Proven business development experience with an established network within the mission-critical and data center market.
- Strong financial management skills, including WIP reporting, forecasting, percentage of completion accounting, budgeting, and margin management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to be based in Metro Atlanta and travel throughout the Southeast as needed.
