Vice President of Operations (Remote) Overview:

Goliath Construction Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a large national electrical contractor for a Vice President of Mission Critical to lead its established and growing Mission Critical division in the Western United States.

The Vice President will oversee mission-critical operations throughout their assigned region, including project execution, financial performance, workforce planning, client relationships, and strategic growth. This executive will lead regional teams delivering complex data center and other mission-critical electrical construction projects while maintaining the highest standards for safety, quality, schedule, and profitability.

 Vice President of Operations Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for all mission-critical estimating, preconstruction, and construction operations across the assigned region.
  • Maintain responsibility for regional financial performance, including revenue, profitability, forecasting, cost controls, and operational planning.
  • Oversee estimating and preconstruction strategy, including pursuit selection, conceptual budgeting, cost modeling, constructability, scheduling, value engineering, and proposal development.
  • Ensure effective project handoffs from estimating and preconstruction teams to project operations.
  • Direct the execution of large, complex mission-critical projects to ensure safety, quality, schedule, budget, and client expectations are achieved.
  • Lead and develop estimating, preconstruction, project management, field leadership, and supporting personnel throughout the region.
  • Establish regional staffing and workforce strategies based on the active project portfolio and anticipated growth.
  • Build executive-level relationships with data center owners, general contractors, developers, design partners, and key trade partners.
  • Evaluate project opportunities, contract terms, resource requirements, procurement risks, and potential financial exposure.
  • Develop regional strategies that support sustainable growth in both established and emerging mission-critical markets.

Vice President of Operations Qualifications

  • Significant executive or senior operational leadership experience with a large electrical contractor.
  • Extensive experience overseeing mission-critical or data center electrical construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical estimating, preconstruction, project operations, and field execution.
  • Demonstrated success managing a large regional operation, business unit, or multi-project portfolio.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial management, forecasting, project controls, labor planning, procurement, and operational risk.
  • Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed estimating, preconstruction, project management, and field teams.
  • Established relationships within the data center and mission-critical construction markets are strongly preferred.
  • Excellent executive communication, negotiation, strategic planning, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned region.
