VDC/BIM Coordinator (Nashville, Tennessee) Overview:
The VDC/BIM Coordinator (Nashville, Tennessee) will lead and manage Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes for electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This role involves coordinating electrical designs, collaborating with multi-discipline teams, and ensuring accurate 3D modeling and clash detection. The ideal candidate has strong experience in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other BIM software, along with expertise in electrical systems and construction processes.
VDC/BIM Coordinator Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead on assigned projects—driving the modeling process from preconstruction through project closeout.
- Develop 2D/3D electrical models and coordinated shop drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design tools.
- Translate engineering and design documents into construction-ready layouts for field use.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, superintendents, and field personnel to ensure design accuracy and feasibility.
- Conduct clash detection and coordination with other trades.
- Maintain and organize drawing sets, revisions, and digital documentation.
- Utilize layout and scanning tools such as Trimble RTS for field validation and design integration.
- Ensure all modeling work complies with project specifications, NEC, and applicable codes.
VDC/BIM Coordinator Qualifications
- CAD/BIM experience coordinating with MEP Contractors
- 3-5 years of experience in BIM coordination or a related role
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM 360, and clash detection tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm design.
- Familiar with detailing fabrication drawings
