Utility Project Manager (Farmington, Connecticut) Position Overview:
The Utility Project Manager (Farmington, Connecticut) will lead multiple utility transmission/distribution projects through full lifecycle: scope, schedule, budget, procurement, contract administration, construction, client relations, and close-out. Act as the primary client liaison to ensure timely and successful delivery.
Utility Project Manager Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of project delivery
- Serve as client’s main point of contact
- Review plans/specifications; develop detailed schedules
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and subcontractors
- Forecast costs and resource needs accurately
- Handle documentation: contracts, RFIs, change orders, submittals, etc.
- Conduct internal and client-facing meetings
- Implement lessons learned and leverage project management tools
- Ensure smooth close-out and cost reconciliation
Utility Project Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or equivalent
- 3+ years in electric utility & substation/line project management
- Strong knowledge of electrical utility systems, blueprints, specs, and construction processes
- Familiar with project methodologies and scheduling software (e.g., Change Order Pro)
- Excellent leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving, and client-relations skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; adaptable and detail-oriented
