General Electrical Superintendent Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership:
    • Lead and manage all phases of electrical construction projects, including planning, execution, and completion.
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Team Supervision:
    • Direct and oversee on-site electrical teams, including foremen, electricians, and apprentices.
    • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to safety standards.
  • Scheduling and Coordination:
    • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met.
    • Coordinate with other trades and contractors to prevent delays and resolve conflicts.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Inspect and review electrical installations for compliance with plans, specifications, and code requirements.
    • Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to maintain project integrity.
  • Safety Management:
    • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to create a safe work environment.
  • Budget and Resource Management:

General Electrical Superintendent Requirements

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in electrical construction, with at least 3–5 years in a superintendent or leadership role.
  • Active journeyman or master electrician license.
  • Proficient knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and construction safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contract documents, specifications, contracts, and shop drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field workers and office workers.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.
