Division Manager – Utility Infrastructure (Boston, Massachusetts) Position Overview:
Our client, a leading infrastructure contractor, is seeking a Division Manager to lead the delivery of complex utility infrastructure and substation projects in the Boston market.
This role requires a senior construction leader with deep experience delivering high-voltage transmission and distribution infrastructure that integrates civil, structural, and electrical scopes. The successful candidate will provide operational leadership across large-scale programs while building and mentoring high-performing project and field teams.
The ideal candidate combines strong field credibility, operational leadership, and technical understanding of utility infrastructure construction, particularly in complex urban environments.
Division Manager – Utility Infrastructure Responsibilities
- Provide executive oversight for large-scale utility infrastructure and substation projects
- Lead coordination across civil, structural, and high-voltage electrical construction scopes
- Direct and mentor project managers, superintendents, and field teams
- Maintain strong relationships with utilities, owners, and key stakeholders
- Ensure project performance related to schedule, cost control, quality, and safety
- Oversee project planning, sequencing, and execution for technically complex infrastructure work
- Support operational planning, staffing strategies, and team development
- Manage coordination between electrical construction and heavy civil scopes such as excavation, foundations, and structures
- Drive operational consistency and continuous improvement across projects
- Represent the organization professionally with clients, partners, and the regional construction community
Division Manager – Utility Infrastructure Qualifications
- 10+ years of construction leadership experience in utility infrastructure, substation, or high-voltage transmission & distribution (T&D) projects
- Proven experience delivering projects involving both civil and electrical scopes within complex infrastructure environments
- Strong understanding of utility infrastructure construction including excavation, structural foundations, and high-voltage systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop project teams, including project managers and field leadership
- Experience working with utilities and major infrastructure clients; GIS or high-voltage systems experience is a plus
