The Fire Alarm Design Manager (Tampa, Florida) is responsible for leading the department to success by applying industry knowledge and quality standards while coordinating customer relations and budgeting necessities.
Fire Alarm Design Manager Responsibilities
- Review original layouts and drawings, check for quality assurance in designed documents, and interpret them for project requirement code compliance
- Coordinate the best design solutions by applying industry knowledge and quality standards while considering customer needs and budgeting requirements
- Act as the Department Manager to provide technical assistance for the fire alarm design team during bidding, design, permitting, and construction
- Provide design direction, support, and guidance to all team members
- Communicate effectively with customers, project team members, and inspecting authorities
- Maintain standards and processes (best practices) for fire alarm design
- Perform rational analyses for multi-family dwellings and mediate code compliance with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
Fire Alarm Design Manager Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience designing design-build fire alarm systems including high-density, high-rise, and smoke control
- Fire Alarm/Professional Engineer License required
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) required, Revit experience a plus
- NICET level II and/or level III certifications preferred
- Experience with electrical equipment and installation, as well as strong electrical design fundamentals
- Proficient knowledge of local codes and construction safety requirements (including IBC and IECC)
